about

The lyrics on this song sort of tell a cryptic, out-of-order story about a 5 year period in my life. It starts off referring to anxieties about my second relationship, that proved to become true, with a reference to "Absolute Zero" by Faith No More. The Spanish refrain was taken from what reads on Mart Carts, which I used to have to operate frequently at the grocery store job I worked at for just under two years, bridging the gap between the two romantic relationships I mention in these lyrics. The second verse begins by expressing the fact that I broke up with my first girlfriend quite spinelessly, even though I knew it was something that needed to be done. The lyrics after this change constantly every time this song is performed, but on this version, they directly reference my second partner. The music stands as an homage to Unwound, Indian Summer, Angel Hair, Clikatat Ikatowi, and Refused, among others.

lyrics

This is only temporary
Et cetera; my worst enemy
Can't shake this feeling
That this is only temporary

I can't feel my fingers
I can't feel...

¡No niños en la canasta!

Yeah, I did the right thing,
But not the right way!
I'd tell you everything, it wouldn't change
No, it wouldn't change

I can't feel my fingers
I can't feel...

¡No niños en la canasta!
